Best Airport to Fly Into if Visiting Cape Cod
Question: We will be coming to Cape Cod in late April from Chicago. Which airport is best?
Hi Nancy - There aren't any direct, non-stop flights from Chicago to Cape Cod.
So your choice really comes down to which nearby/connecting airport to fly to: Boston's Logan International Airport or T.F. Green Airport in Providence, RI. Boston
Because Logan International is a huge airport that serves most every domestic and international airline, you'll probably have the largest selection of flights and fares if you fly from your home airport to Boston and make your way to Cape Cod from there.
After you arrive in Boston, you can then: (1) rent a car and drive to the Cape
; (2) come by bus
to Cape Cod; or (3) take a 30-minute commuter flight on Cape Air airlines to either Barnstable Municipal (Hyannis) Airport
or Provincetown Airport

Now there's another option for getting here from Boston. CapeFlyer
- the summer weekend train service from Boston to Hyannis._________________________________Note:
If you opt to take connecting flights from home to Boston to the Cape, then you'll have one more
airport choice to make: Hyannis or Provincetown?
- If you fly into Hyannis (Barnstable Municipal) Airport, you'll be coming into the mid-Cape region.
- If you fly into Provincetown Airport, you'll be way out at the farthest end of the Cape.
Choose whichever destination airport is nearest to where you'll be staying on Cape Cod. That way, you won't have too far to drive to your lodging.
(FYI: See my map of Cape Cod regions and towns here
.) Providence RI
If you can find a reasonably priced, convenient flight from your home airport to T.F. Green Airport in Providence (RI), grab it! Green Airport is only about 60 miles from the Cape, and it's a really easy drive.
Fly to Providence, rent a car, and drive to Cape Cod. It's pretty likely that you'll be here in less time (and perhaps at less cost) than if you fly to Boston then fly/drive/bus to the Cape.
I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask!
P.S. Here are the airport codes for your research: Logan International Airport in Boston (BOS), T.F. Green Airport in Providence (PVD), Barnstable Municipal Airport in Hyannis (HYA), Provincetown Municipal Airport (PVC).
