Drive From Boston to Cape Cod
Distance to Cape Cod: About 60 miles.
Drive time: 90 minutes or so to the Cape Cod Canal, but it could take up to 2 hours, maybe more, depending on traffic conditions.
Directions: Take I-93 South to Route 3 South, leading to the Sagamore Bridge. (Hint: Watch your speed - particularly around Plymouth. Speed traps!)
Cost: About $15, round trip - based on current average gas price of $2.50 per gallon, and average fuel mileage of 20 miles per gallon.

Flying from Boston to Hyannis or Provincetown
Airlines: Cape Air from Boston's Logan International Airport
Schedule: Year round service from Boston to Hyannis and Provincetown. Normally 8 flights per day in the summer, 3 flights per day in the off-season.
Flight time: About 30 minutes.
Fares: About $200 round trip, on average. Sometimes you'll find special rates or lower fares on Cape Air's website.

Bus Companies: This gets a little confusing, because it's best to choose your bus company based on your destination town on Cape Cod.

Schedule: Here are the current schedules for Plymouth & Brockton and Peter Pan.
Travel time: 90 minutes to 2+ hours, depending on destination and traffic conditions
Cost: Fares vary by the company you choose, where you catch the bus in Boston, and which town you're going to on the Cape.
Current (January 2010) published fares are:
- Peter Pan - from $40 to $50 per adult, round trip
- Plymouth & Brockton - from $31 to $63 per adult, round trip

Take the Cape Cod Ferry to Provincetown from Boston
Route: From Boston to Provincetown.
Schedule: Seasonal service beginning in mid-May and ending in October.
Here are the Boston-Cape Cod ferry schedules for Bay State Cruise Company and Boston Harbor Cruises.
Travel time: Fast ferry - About 90 minutes from pier to pier. Traditional ferry - About 3 hours, pier to pier.
(Note: The traditional ferry runs only on Saturday.)
Fares: $79 per adult, round trip. Less for seniors and children.
