Brewster is fondly known as the "Sea Captains Town" for the many seafaring gents who once made their home here. Today, the town retains all its historic charm with a modern flair.

Where is Brewster?

As you travel east on scenic Route 6A, you'll come to Brewster about half-way down the "arm" of Cape Cod.

The town is bordered to the north by Cape Cod Bay and by adjacent towns on its other three sides, making Brewster one of the few Cape Cod towns with only one saltwater coastline.

Is Brewster the Right Vacation Town for You?

Some folks might tell you there isn't enough going on in Brewster to fill a week-long vacation.

I respectfully disagree.

Brewster MA is a town where you can be as active as your heart desires.

  • Biking, golf, Cape Cod Baseball League games, tennis, fishing, kayaking, mini-golf, paddleboats, horseback riding, shellfishing ... and of course, wonderful Cape Cod Bay and kettle pond beaches.  Not enough?

  • Historic sites, museums, live theater, antiques shops, fine art and artisans galleries, the coolest general store you've ever visited, and the best state park in the whole state (IMHO). Want more?

If you're still up for more activities and attractions, then hop in the car or get on your bikes and take a ride to Orleans (the next town over), or out to the Cape Cod National Seashore. There's lots more going on there!

Activities & Attractions in Brewster MA

Now that I've whet your appetite for all there is to see and do around town, let me show you a few of our family's favorites ...

Cape Cod Museum of Natural History (869 Main Street) - a great place to take the kids for lots of hands-on nature exhibits, a living beehive, a small aquarium, touch-tanks, and a live osprey cam trained on a nearby nest.

For families, the Museum's seaside exploration program "Mudflat Mania" is not to be missed!

Crosby Mansion (163 Crosby Lane) -this elegant 19th-century mansion was built around the Crosby family's small original home, creating a house within a mansion.

Recently restored to its original glory, the mansion is open for tours two Sundays a month in July and August.

Nickerson State Park (Rte. 6A) - a cool place to spend hot summer days.

The Park's nearly 2000 acres of woodlands, kettle ponds, biking and hiking trails, and quiet camping spots give everyone a place to call their own - even on the busiest weekend.

Emerald Hollow Farm (235 Run Hill Road) is the place to go for first-class trail rides.

For a special one-of-a-kind outing, a leisurely horseback ride is a marvelous way to enjoy the hidden beauty of Cape Cod any time of year. (Reservations required!)
