Welcome to Spring on Cape Cod! Events this month include town-wide daffodil festivals, Symphony classics performances, re-opening of the historic Pilgrim Monument for tours, and more.


There are plenty of fun and interesting things to do on Cape Cod in April, with special events and activities for every member of the family.

And remember ... April marks the "unofficial" beginning of whale watching season, too!


Fairs, Festivals & Special Events in April

Cape Cod Maritime Museum - Opening Day

When: April 1, 2014. Museum hours are Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm; Sunday from noon to 4pm

Where: Cape Cod Maritime Museum, 135 South Street, Hyannis

Admission: $5 for adults; students & seniors $4; children 7 & under FREE

While you're exploring downtown Hyannis, don't miss the Maritime Museum. Set on a small bluff overlooking Hyannis Harbor, the Museum houses an array of interesting exhibits, artwork, and historic artifacts highlighting the Cape's nautical heritage.



Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra - Letting Go

When: April 5-6, 2014, Saturday at 8 pm and Sunday at 3 p.m.

Where: Barnstable Performing Arts Center, 744 West Main Street Hyannis

Led by renowned conductor Jung-Ho Pak, the Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra brings us Letting Go.  This performance, featuring guest artist Nick Kendall, is described as "a fusion of classical, jazz, country and funk – with wiggle room for improv!".



4th Annual Lower Cape Home & Garden Expo

When:  April 6, 2014, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Where: Lower Cape Cod Regional Technical High School, 351 Pleasant Lake Avenue, Harwich

The Chambers of Commerce of the towns of Harwich, Brewster, Chatham, Orleans and Eastham have gotten together to sponsor this popular annual event.

At the Expo, you'll find the newest, most innovative products and services for your home and garden, plus interior design ideas, decorative accessories, health and fitness info, financial planning, electronics and seasonal items.




27th Annual Easter Egg Hunt

When: April 19, 2014, festivities begin at noon

Where: Library Lawn, Falmouth

Admission: Free for kids 9 and under accompanied by an adult

If you're looking for fun Cape Cod events for the whole family, look no farther than the Easter Egg Hunt on the lawn at the Falmouth Library!

Beginning at noon on the Saturday before Easter, families with children under 9 years of age meet at Margaret E. (Peg) Noonan Park in Falmouth to have photos taken with the Easter Bunny. At 1 p.m., it's off to the Falmouth Library Lawn in search of Easter eggs.




Daffodil Days

When:  April 19 & 26, 2014, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Where: Spohr Gardens, 45 Fells Road, Falmouth

Take a leisurely walk in this beautiful six acre Cape cod woodland garden located on Oyster pond in Falmouth, MA. This magnificent site is open to visitors year around. Spring brings thousands of daffodils, followed by azaleas, rhododendrons and then daylilies.

Experience the sheer beauty of thousands of daffodils! Guided tours, childrens activities, sale of plants from the Spohr gardens.



20th Annual Patriot's Day Golf Tournament


When: Monday, April 21, 2014

Where: Wianno Golf Course, 389 Parker Road, Osterville

The annual Patriot's Day Golf Tournament begins with a shotgun start on the beautiful 18-hole Wianno Club golf course. Lunch, snacks, prizes, and dinner are all included for $175 per person.

International Marconi Day Celebration

When: April 26, 2014, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Where: Coast Guard Station at Coast Guard Beach, Eastham

Admission: Free

This special event is to honor the famed Guglielmo Marconi who, in 1903, sent and received the first transatlantic wireless transmissions between the US and Europe from his wireless station in Wellfleet MA.

To commemorate Marconi's birthday, licensed radio operators from the Cape Cod Marconi Radio Club will make contact with other operators around the world. Everyone is invited to come see this fascinating communication process in person. Kids will also have a chance to practice Morse Code on a "key", use signal flags, and learn other signaling techniques.




The Sandwich Bazaar and Farmers Market

When: Opening day is Wednesday April 30, 2014

Where: 34 Quaker Meetinghouse Road, Sandwich

Admission: Free

This is opening day for the oldest and largest flea market and farmers market on the Upper Cape.

The Sandwich Bazaar takes place every Wednesday from late April to early October and hosts vendors with everything from local produce to hand-crafted jewelry to organic dog treats.

** The Bazaar is also held on Sundays, late June to late September, 8 am - 2 pm.
