Cape Cod Fishing Information
Come Wet a Line!

Cape Cod fishing ... it's a topic that's near and dear to this lady angler's heart!

Seeing all the questions visitors ask about fishing on Cape Cod, I'd say it's a popular topic for vacationers, too.

So let's get right to it. It's time for me to share all sorts of information about "catching" on Cape Cod with all of you.

What You Can Catch

The really cool thing about fishing on the Cape is the huge variety of fish species that inhabit our waters. And goodness knows, we have a lot  of water to explore with a rod and reel!

Saltwater Fishing

As a child, my fishing days were spent on Pennsylvania's ponds, lakes, and streams with my grandparents. Back then, little did I know that there was a whole new angling world awaiting me.

Fast forward to the 1980s. I moved to Massachusetts and met the wonderful man who became my hubby. He's the one who introduced me to the heart-pounding, muscle-burning thrill of catching big fish on light tackle. And my obsession with saltwater fishing began. (Thank you, honey!!!)

Freshwater Fishing

Did you know there are 365 ponds on the Cape? That's one for each day of the year.

For freshwater anglers, they're a treasure trove of:

  • Bass (large and smallmouth)

  • Trout (brown, rainbow, tiger, brookies)

  • Salmon

  • Perch

  • Pickerel

  • Brown Bullhead

  • Pumpkinseeds

  • Bluegill

Here's a fantastic interactive map that'll show you lots of ponds and what species they hold.
