For the majority of travelers, a Martha's Vineyard ferry is the most convenient, most affordable way to make the short trip from Cape Cod to the nearby island of Martha's Vineyard.
Ferries to Martha's Vineyard leave Cape Cod from three ports:
- Falmouth
- Woods Hole
- Hyannis

Falmouth to Martha's Vineyard Ferry

Route: Falmouth Harbor to Oak Bluffs
Season: Island Queen sails seasonally only, from late May to mid-October.
Auto Transport: No
Schedule: During peak season, Island Queen has seven daily departures for Oak Bluffs, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Additional sailings on weekends. (See full schedule.)
Crossing Time: Approximately 35 minutes
Round Trip Fares: $18 adult, $9 kids age 4-12, kids 3 and under Free / Additional charge to bring bicycle, surfboard, etc. aboard
Parking: Island Queen has 2 lots, both within easy walking distance to the dock. $15.00 per day.

Falmouth-Edgartown Ferry

Schedule: During peak season, four sailings daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., with additional return sailing on Friday. (See full schedule [PDF])
Crossing Time: About 1 hour and 15 minutes
Round Trip Fares: $50 adult, $30 kids age 6-12, kids under 6 Free /Additional charge to bring bicycle, surfboard, etc. aboard
Parking: Many options including on-site, off-site with shuttle, valet parking. From $15 per day and up.

Season: Sails to Vineyard Haven year round, and sails to Oak Bluffs seasonally from mid-April to mid-October
Auto Transport: Yes
Crossing Time: About 45 minutes
Schedule: Multiple daily sailings from 6 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. (See full schedule.)
Round Trip Fares: $16 adult, $8.50 kids age 5-12, kids age 4 and under Free, $8.50 active military with proper ID.
Auto transport rates from about $135, depending on vehicle size.
Additional charge to bring bicycle, surfboard, etc. aboard.
Parking: On-site at the terminal, and off-site with free shuttle service. $10-$12 per day.
More Info: If you plan to take your vehicle on the Martha's Vineyard ferry, be sure to make your reservations as early as possible. (No later than January or February for vehicle transport on a summer weekend.) Some pets allowed. Be sure to check the Steamship Authority website for special fare and discount info.

Route: Hyannis to Oak Bluffs
Season: High-speed ferry sails seasonally, from May 1 to October 31. Traditional ferry sails seasonally, late may to mid-October.
Auto Transport: No
Crossing Time: High-speed - about 1 hour, 5 minutes. Traditional ferry - about 1 hour, 40 minutes.
Schedule: Multiple daily sailings from 8:15 a.m. to 8:05 p.m. during peak season. (See full schedules - high-speed and traditional.)
Round Trip Fares: High-speed ferry - $71 adults, $48 kids age 5-12, kids age 4 and under Free. Traditional ferry - $45 adults, kids age 12 and under Free. Additional charge to bring bicycle, surfboard, etc. aboard.
Parking: HyLine has its own lots near the pier ($17 per day in summer, less in off-season). There are also a good number of privately owned lots within walking distance of the dock (costs vary). We prefer to park at the Hyannis Transportation Center on Main Street ($6 per day), then walk ($0) or take the trolley ($0, seasonal from late June to Labor Day) to the piers.
