New Years Eve Fireworks

Question: Are you able to see the fireworks display in Chatham at Oyster Pond from the beach at Smugglers in West Yarmouth??

Dee's Reply: No, I'm afraid not. Chatham is 20+ miles from West Yarmouth "as the crow flies". Given the distance, Smugglers Beach is out of range for viewing Chatham's fireworks display.

If your New Years Eve plans are at all flexible, why not hop in the car and head down to Chatham for First Night? It's the biggest and best New Years Eve celebration on Cape Cod - and Chatham is only about a half-hour drive from West Yarmouth.

There'll be tons of activities going on around town throughout the day and evening, all leading up to the famous "Countdown Cod" drop and midnight fireworks.

If you have younger children who need to be tucked into bed well before midnight, consider a late afternoon trip to Chatham. Have some fun around town, grab an early dinner, then take in the Noise Parade at 6 p.m. and the special low-level fireworks show at Veterans Field at 6:30 p.m. The young 'uns will get a huge kick out of the festivities, I'm sure.

Here's a link to all the details about First Night in Chatham MA.

Whatever you finally decide to do for New Years Eve, please travel safely and enjoy!

My best wishes to you and yours for a happy Holiday Season and a wonderful new year in 2015!!

Best Regards,

Dee
