Camping on Cape Cod in October

by George
(CT)

Question: Which campgrounds are open in October?

Dee's Reply: Hi, George! Quite a few Cape Cod camping areas stay open until mid-October.

Have you had a chance to look at my campgrounds directory? It shows the opening and closing times for camping sites all over Cape Cod.

For each campground in the directory, I've also included a link to their website (where available), as well as a telephone number you can call to check space availability and rates for your preferred dates.

If you're planning to be here in late October, most of the privately-owned camping areas will already have closed for the season. But the camping areas at Scusset Beach State Park in Sagamore Beach (on the "mainland" side of the Cape Cod Canal) and Shawme-Crowell State Forest (in Sandwich) will still be open for camping on the weekends.

If you have a self-contained RV that's equipped to travel over sand, another option would be Sandy Neck Beach Park in Sandwich/Barnstable. Beach camping is allowed at Sandy Neck year round.

Here are the local telephone numbers for those camping areas:

Scusset Beach State Park: (508) 888-0859

Shawme-Crowell State Forest: (508) 888-0351

Sandy Neck Beach Park Gatehouse: (508) 362-8300

I hope this information is helpful to you. Enjoy your camping trip to Cape Cod!

Best Regards,

Dee
