Cape Cod Traffic Reports

Looking for a reliable Cape Cod traffic report - one you can count on to help you avoid tie-ups getting on, off, and around the Cape?

Here are my go-to sources for up-to-date information about travel  conditions on our area's roadways ...

Traffic Reports by Phone

From inside Massachusetts, dial 511 on your mobile phone.

From outside Massachusetts, dial (508) 499-5511.

After the prompts, press the route number you'll be traveling:

Routes coming onto Cape Cod

  • Coming from Boston - press 3.

  • Coming from Worcester/Mass. Pike - press 495.

  • Coming from Providence - press 25.

Routes leaving Cape Cod

  • Leaving from Falmouth - press 28.

  • Leaving from other towns - press 6.

Note: There's no extra charge to call 511 from your mobile device in Massachusetts. Your normal mobile charges (if any) will apply, just as they would with any other call you make.

Traffic Updates on the Radio

"Radio?", you say. Yes, the old-fashioned way of getting a traffic report still works in the digital age! ;-)

For regional traffic reports, I like Boston radio station WBZ 1030-AM for their "Traffic on The 3s". (Every ten minutes, e.g. 10:03, 10:13, 10:23, 10:33, etc.)

1030-AM's reports cover all the major roads leading to Cape Cod from Boston and the North Shore, as well as from Western and Central Massachusetts.

That includes: the Massachusetts Turnpike (Rt. 90), I-93, I-495, Rt. 3, Rt. 25, and the Bourne and Sagamore bridges.

For local road and bridge traffic conditions here on the Cape, we tune to WQRC 99.9-FM, a Hyannis-based radio station, for hourly (in-season) traffic reports.
