Is Sagamore Too Far Away?

by Karine
(Montreal, Quebec)

Question: Hi! I found a cottage in Sagamore for our vacation in Septembre. Is it too far away from all the good places to visit in Cape Cod. Thanks!

Dee's Reply: Hi, Karine!

Sagamore is a village in the town of Bourne, at the very beginning of Cape Cod, nearest to the Cape Cod Canal and the mainland.

I can't really say whether Sagamore would be a good location for you, because that depends primarily on what you'd like to see and do while you're here and how much driving you're willing to do.

For example, if you want to visit the Cape Cod National Seashore (highly recommended!) you'll have at least a 1-hour drive to get there from Sagamore.

If you'd like to take a whale watch cruise, the nearest whale watch boats will be at least a half-hour drive or more - either to Plymouth (on the "mainland") or to Barnstable Harbor on Cape Cod.

Is Sagamore a convenient location for sightseeing all over Cape Cod? No, it's not.

But, if you only want to explore part of the Cape on this trip, and save the rest for your next visit, then a cottage in Sagamore might work out well for you.

If you'll let me know what you'd like to see and do on your vacation, I'll be happy to get back to you with a more detailed reply and some suggestions ...

Best Regards,

Dee
