Historic Sandwich Village Tours

When: October 4 & 11, 2014, 10 a.m. (canceled in the event of rain)

Where: Meet at Sandwich Glass Museum, 129 Main Street, Sandwich

Admission: Free. Donations are welcomed!

These fascinating walking tours stroll through the historic village of Sandwich, the Cape's oldest town. Knowledgeable, entertaining docents lead the tour, sharing stories of the town's people, places and history.



Oktoberfest

When: October 12, 2013 (2014 date TBA)

Where: Mashpee Commons, Mashpee

Admission: Free (registration/entry fee for road race)

The Town of Mashpee's Special Events Committee hosts its annual Oktoberfest, which begins with a 10K road race at 10 a.m. For the remainder of the day, the Mashpee's Town Green is the scene of a fall celebration with live entertainment, plenty of food, a beer garden, and children's activities like pumpkin decorating and face painting.



Pumpkin Day at Bourne Farm

When: October 12, 2013, 9 am - 3 pm (2014 date TBA)

Where: Bourne Farm, North Falmouth Hgwy., North Falmouth

Admission: Free, ticket sales per activity

Get into the swing of autumn at Bourne Farm. Pumpkin Day is a great family outing featuring hayrides, pony rides, arts and crafts, kayaks and paddle boats, face painting ... and plenty of pumpkins for the picking!




Yarmouth Seaside Festival

When: October 11-13, 2014, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Sat. & Sun., fireworks 8 p.m. Sunday, morning events on Monday.

Where: On the grounds of MacArthur Elementary School, 1175 Route 28, South Yarmouth, and other venues around town

Columbus Day weekend means it’s time for the Yarmouth Seaside Festival. This annual three-day extravaganza has tons of fun activities for the whole family including a craft fair, kids rides and games, a one-of-a-kind haunted maze, 5K road race, canoe and kayak race, sand-sculpting contest, two parades, and a big fireworks display at Seagull Beach.



Taylor-Bray Farm's Fall Festival

When: October 12, 2013, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. (2014 date TBA)

Where: Taylor Bray Farm, 108 Bray Farm Road, Yarmouthport

Admission: Suggested parking donation $5

Visit historic Taylor-Bray Farm for a wonderful day of autumn activities. Originally settled in 1639, the 22-acre farm will host all sorts of old-fashioned family fun including hayrides, games, hearth cooking, face painting, a free giant pumpkin raffle for the kids, live music, and refreshments.




Provincetown Dance Festival

When: October 24-25, 2014

Where: Provincetown Theater, 238 Bradford Street, Provincetown

Two eclectic nights of contemporary dance come to the Outer Cape for the annual Provincetown Dance Festival. Each evening features different dance performers.  The 2014 lineup still TBA.




Wellfleet OysterFest

When: October 19-20, 2013, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. (2014 date TBA)

Where: Main Street and other venues in Wellfleet

Admission: General admission $1 per person, children free. Some events require pre-registration/ticket purchase.

Each year, OysterFest welcomes hundreds of locals and visitors from near and far for a celebration of the salty, succulent, world-renowned Wellfleet oyster. Fresh seafood is the star of the show, with fresh oysters, homemade chowder, and plenty of other delicacies purveyed in venues from the quaint town center to restaurants throughout town. Fest-goers of all ages will also enjoy arts and crafts, cooking demonstrations, nature walks and talks, live music, kids activities, and much more ... including the weekend's feature event - an oyster-shucking contest where competitors vie to win the $1000 first prize by properly shucking 24 oysters in the quickest time.




Cape Cod Marathon Running Weekend

When: October 25-26, 2014

Where: Beginning and ending at the Falmouth Town Green, Falmouth

Admission: No cost for spectators, registration/entry fees required for marathoners

There's good reason that Runners' World named this as one of the "Ten Most Scenic" marathons in the world. Beginning on the beautiful Village Green in Falmouth, the loop course takes runners along the shoreline, through farmlands and cranberry bogs, and past the imposing Nobska Light. Choose your spot along the course, and help cheer the runners on as they pass by!
