Nantucket Ferry Information

Schedule, Fare and Parking Info for Nantucket Ferries

Nantucket ferry services make the crossing between Cape Cod and the nearby island of Nantucket, year round, carrying people, pets, and autos.

Whether you're traveling for a week-long vacation or just enjoying a daytrip, Nantucket ferries are a convenient, comfortable and very affordable way to travel!


Two Nantucket island ferry services sail every day between Hyannis Harbor and Nantucket Harbor.

There's also a seasonal ferry with daily service between Saquatucket Harbor in Harwichport and Nantucket Harbor.

Route: Hyannis to Nantucket Harbor

Season: The high-speed ferry sails year round. The traditional ferry is seasonal only, from mid-May to mid-October

Auto Transport: No

Crossing Time: On the high speed ferry the trip takes about 1 hour, pier to pier. On the traditional ferry it's just under 2 hours, pier to pier.

Schedule: During peak season, the high-speed ferry sails six times a day from 6:30 a.m. to 8:45 p.m. The traditional ferry sails three times daily, 9:20 a.m. to 6:20 p.m. (See schedules: high-speed and traditional.)

Round Trip Fares: High-speed ferry - $77 adult, $51 kids age 5-12, kids 4 and under Free. Traditional ferry - $45 adult, kids 12 and under Free. Additional charge to bring bicycle, surfboard, etc. aboard

Parking: HyLine has its own lots near the pier on Ocean Street ($17 per day to park in high season), and there are plenty of private lots in walking distance from the pier (costs vary). We tightwads prefer to park in the Hyannis Transportation Center lot on Main Street ($6 per day in high season), then walk ($0) or take a trolley ($0, seasonal from late June to Labor Day) to the pier.

Season: Year-round service on the traditional ferry. High-speed ferry is seasonal, from mid-April to mid-October

Auto Transport: Yes, on the traditional ferry only.

Crossing Time: High-speed - about 1 hour, pier to pier. Traditional - about 2 hours and 15 minutes, pier to pier.

Schedule: During peak season, multiple sailings daily from 7:15 a.m. to 8 p.m. for traditional Nantucket ferry and 8 a.m. to 7:15 p.m. for high-speed ferry. (See high-speed and traditional ferry schedules [PDF].)

Round Trip Fares: High speed - $67 adult, $34 kids age 5-12, kids under 5 Free. Traditional - $35 adult, $18 kids age 5-12, kids under 5 Free. Additional charge to bring bicycle, surfboard, etc. aboard.

Round trip automobile transport from $400 and up, April through October. Less in November and December.

Parking: Steamship Authority has a number of off-site lots with free shuttle service to their piers. Peak season $15 per day. Or, park at the Hyannis Transportation Center ($6 per day) and walk/trolley ($0) from Main Street to the Steamship Authority pier.

Harwichport to Nantucket Ferry

Season: Seasonal only, early June to late September

Auto Transport: No

Crossing Time: About 80 minutes, pier to pier

Schedule: This Nantucket Island ferry offers three sailings daily from June 30th to late August. Fewer in early June and September. (See full schedule.)

Round Trip Fares: $71 adults, $54 kids under age 12, $6 kids under age 2. Additional charge to bring bicycle, surfboard, etc. onboard.

Parking: No charge for day trippers. If you leave your car in the lot overnight, it's $17 per day.

"Around the Sound" Ferry

There's only one company that offers a day-trip ferry from Hyannis to Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard ... HyLine Cruises.

If you'd like to visit both Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket Island, all in the same day, you might want to add HyLine's "Around the Sound" ferry to your vacation itinerary.

Leaving early in the morning from the Hyannis Harbor pier and not returning until a little after 10 p.m., with 5 hours on Martha's Vineyard and 5 hours on Nantucket - you'll have an full day, to be sure!
